Two movies that were recently submitted to the Oscars nomination team were anime films. No kidding! The Sky Crawlers, a Production I.G. film, and the Bones’ Sword and the Stranger are two of 14 films up in the running for the three open spots in the next Oscars Best Animated Film category. I haven’t seen either of these, but I need to now. Both the plots seem intriguing and the art is a visual orchestra.

The Dark Knight better take home some wins or someone might get hurt—that’s all I’m saying.
But stupid Oscars and their stupid refusal of the comic book movie genre … and Johnny Depp. XD

They are haters, I agree. We should start our own Oscar-type award show for geek culture only!

I don’t know the rules for the Oscars… Why wouldn’t these be in the foreign film category? Do they not include animated in the foreign category? Not saying they should be in the animated one, just wondering…

I’m sure The Dark Knight will get some love come Oscar time, due to the combination of Heath Ledger’s excellent last performance and the crazy goo-goo amounts of money it made. I would bet Nolan will get a Best Director nod and Heath will get a posthumous nomination for the Joker.
And if there were Geek Awards, I would want a “Best Casting” category. This year’s nominees would include Heath Ledger as the Joker, Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark, Zachary Quinto as Spock, and Shia LaBeouf as the refridgerator in Indiana Jones 4.

Mandy, I am not sure how it works, but I think because they are animated they can only be in the animated section. The foreign films have to be live action I think.
Tony…LMAO, I love the Shia as the refrigerator!

That might answer your questions

Are both of the films out yet? Netflix date perhaps Kannaya?
