My name is Hollie (aka Pheonix blood) and I am the resident British flavor to GEN with a passion for sarcasm (it is a British thing). I’ve been playing video games ever since i was young, but it wasn’t until I got my Uncles hand-me-down N64 with Ocarina of Time, that it went from a hobby to a passion. I don’t think my parents ever did forgive him.
As a gamer I have tried nearly everything put in front of me, however it was the RPG’s that truly hooked me in. I currently own the 360, Wii, DS and PSp and it’s fair to say that some of my all time favorites games include: Zelda Ocarina of Time and Majoras Mask, Gears of War 2, Final Fantasy VIII, Portal and Metal Gear Solid 2, however I am DAMN fussy and really hard to impress, I expect lots from games because I’ve seen it done properly and I know they CAN deliver the goods. I also devour British gaming magazines, an industry which needs way more support!
Besides the obvious ‘Gaming’ nerdy-ness, I’m also an Anime fan and can be found running around at any major UK convention (and sometimes even PAX in Seattle) with a large group of friends. I currently LOVE Airgear and I am digesting manga like Nana, Hot Gimmik, Air Gear, Trigun and Gals like there is no tomorrow. I am also an ex-cosplayer, my past costume history includes Kasumi from Dead or Alive, Quitis from FF8, Claire Redfield from Resi 2, Kitami from Bible Black (yes that IS a Hentai) and Ryomou from Battle Vixens.
On a more personal level I’m ditzy with the ability to trip over EVERYTHING including my own feet. I am a true romantic who deep down really believes in prince charming, but hide it all this was unbelievable pessimism. I love to think I can sing even though I know I can’t. I hate spiders (nothing needs that many legs). I read Harry Potter books and anything related to Geisha or the British Kings and Queen. My favorite films include: Kill Bill vol1, Snatch, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Super bad, Juno, Harry Potter films, Sicko, Mean Girls, Layer Cake, Casino Royal and Sin City. When it comes to music I worship Dan Le Sac Vs Scroobious Pip, Red Hot Chili Peppers, MIA, Santogold, Blink 182 Emile Autumn, Utada and the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s.
I also love Jinx.com t-shirts, Destructoid.com, labret piercing, corsets, adding nerdy references into everyday conversation making me think I’m cooler than I really am, Kat VonDee, my custom made Pheonix necklace, sex and the city, cherry sourz and any time it is involved, sleeping till midday, day dreaming and above all the CBM (c’blog Mafia) a group of like minded geeky friends who I met through my passion for gaming, we are from all over the world, break my heart, they break your legs <3
