“Comics Crusader”

WITA Pink

Stephanie Carmichael was born and raised near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. A big fan of all things geek, she grew up playing games like The Legend of Zelda and Super Mario Brothers on the NES and soon moved into the world of PlayStation. She was hooked with her first PS1 game, Crash Bandicoot 2. A lover of RPGs, action-adventure, platform, and horror games (among other genres, of course), some of Stephanie’s favorite games and series include Crash Bandicoot, Legend of Legaia, Resident Evil, Jak, Tomb Raider, Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger, Legend of Zelda, Silent Hill, Super Mario Brothers, and Prince of Persia.

Although she’s only a recent inductee to the comic book universe, Stephanie has always had a love of Batman and the X-men (especially Wolverine and Gambit), and she enjoyed watching the animated series cartoons as a kid. Her comic knowledge and collection is constantly growing—and she has the stuffed bookshelves and boxes to prove it.

Stephanie is studying English literature and hopes to write and publish a novel. After she graduates, her goal is to write for a magazine or website—or find another outlet in the gaming, film, or comics industry. She enjoys reading, listening to alternative rock, drinking coffee, blogging/writing, playing with her cats, gaming, and watching movies. She’s also fond of Star Wars, science fiction and fantasy, and for some weird reason, songs about Superman.

Resume: Stephanie currently writes full-time for the Girls Entertainment Network, founded and run by Becky Young. Since spring of 2008, she has worked her way up to Comics Editor—gaining invaluable experience in dealing with public relations and networking, creating her own graphics using Paint Shop Pro 9, managing the comics section and staff, organizing features, and working under deadlines and pressure. Her self-taught skill with her photo-editing program of choice has led to the development of her fully self-designed version 2.0 blog, coded by Curtis McHale.

Part-time, Stephanie acts as a contributor for Bill Ramey’s Batman-On-Film and staff writer for Impulse Creations. She previously contributed to ComicNerd.com, and has also written a guest feature article for Hollywire.com.

Contact: Stephanie is always looking for new work. Please feel free to email her about paid writing gigs or review copies for submissions—or if you’d just like to drop her a line with friendly comments/suggestions/questions!
