The comic Atlantis Rising is set to join the movie ranks.
Len Wiseman, director of Underworld and Live Free or Die Hard, has signed on to helm a comic-to-film adaptation of Platinum Studios’ five-part apocalyptic sci-fi mini-series (whew!) Atlantis Rising—created by Scott Mitchell Rosenberg and composed by writer Scott O. Brown and artist Tim Irwin.
“After more than a thousand years of peaceful coexistence, Atlantis and the surface world are on the brink of war with the fate of both civilizations hanging in the balance.”
The cool thing is, you can read the first four issues over on drunkduck.com for free.

Discuss: What do you think about Len Wisemen for director? Do you think a good movie can be made out of comics that have such few issues—like Kick-Ass, which is only going on its seventh issue? What do you think of Atlantic Rising itself? I read the issues so far and it’s pretty cool!

I think it will be easier for the book to be made into a movie because it is short. It sounds alot like Fathom though, and that is being made into a movie also. It might be a bit strange to have two movies about the underwater race and land-dwellers fighting eachother.I am going to go and check out the comics!
