Okay guys, I know this is what you’ve ALL been waiting for…

Actually, my FIRST adventure in cosplaying! That’s right, this past weekend I attended my first convention, Anime Detour 2008 in Bloomington, MN, and did my first cosplay with Kannaya and VirtualGirl at my side. We dressed up as Mario (Virtualgirl), Wario (Kannaya), and Luigi (myself), and our friend Nick accompanied us as “Prince Peach.”
Sega Superstars Tennis, developed by Sumo Digital, was released March 18, 2008 for the Xbox 360, PS2 and PS3, Wii, and my system of choice, the Nintendo DS/DS Lite.

I’m going to take this opportunity to use GEN for my own benefit. I am a self-proclaimed casual gamer, and I need help from all you pros out there! I currently own 4 game systems: Super Nintendo, N64, Gamecube, and DS Lite. Basically, I’m looking for any recommendations of games that I should play to expand my gaming repetoir. Virtualgirl is begging me to get a Wii…and maybe someday I will, when I just happen to have an extra $250 lying around…but for now, any suggestions you can give me for games (specifically for DS and GC) would be helpful!
Okay, not the DS…more specifically, my DS. Much to my horror, about two weeks ago my beloved Nintendo DS crapped out on me. The touch screen completely stopped responding. It first happened right as I was playing the first boss in The Legend of Zelda and The Phantom Hourglass; I thought the defect was the game, since I immediately tried several others and they all worked fine! So I returned the game to the Ebay seller I bought it from. And just a few days later, the DS quit on me completely. No game responded to my stylus.
Editor Note: Guest editor Princess Twilight is working to bridge the gap between casual and hardcore gamers. In her first blog, she stood up loud and proud to say “I am a casual gamer. And I’m okay with that!” She is now turning her attention to translating l33t speak for those less familiar with the online language. While some of the below terms have been (sadly) integrated into everyday speech for several of us, others still might only nod and smile when their geek friends baffle them with the alien terms. Read on to receive the first of several lessons (hopefully) to keep us up to date on our geek speak!

Are you out there? Anyone?
I hope I’m not alone. I fear that casual gaming may be getting a bad rep. I, for instance, own a few game systems. I’ve played video games most of my life, from the original Game Boy to the Nintendo DS. I’ve played Duck Hunt, Tetris, Street Fighter II, Sonic the Hedgehog, Killer Instinct, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Mario Kart, Halo, Guitar Hero, Donkey Konga, and MANY more. But I’m still a casual gamer. Why?
