The latest Marvel movies nod to Captain America. Plus, eleven Incredible Hulk stills to tie you over.
The Captain America movie isn’t dated to be released in theaters until around May 2011, but recent and upcoming Marvel films like Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk, respectively, are hinting to the Avenger now.

Cap’s red, white, and blue shield appears at the 1 hour 30 minute mark (the middle-lower left corner in the picture) in Iron Man—or more notably, the part where Tony quips to Pepper, “Let’s face it, this is not the worst thing you’ve caught me doing.”
Many people (including myself) didn’t catch the homage during the film, but apparently it’s very obvious, especially now that you know it’s there. According to /Film, “the shield cannot be seen in the trailer when parts of the scene are shown.”
As expected, fans are already working the shield’s cameo into the logic of Marvel’s new and ever expanding movie-verse, but I’m going with the “just for fun” theory right now. Without spoiling anything, the scene obviously occurs before Stark encounters Nick Fury/Samuel L. Jackson after the credits, and S.H.I.E.L.D. is not a prominent factor when the shield pops up. However, it still appears that Stark is at work on a prototype of Captain America’s signature weapon, so one can at least imagine a similar, stunning and advanced technology utilized by the character when he appears on screen in 2011’s The First Avenger: Captain America. Where World War II, cryogenics and Matthew McConaughey (ugh) come into play, who knows.
Also, a future reference to Captain America is reported to be made in The Incredible Hulk, which comes out June 13.

The photo above is significant because it’s our first look at the super serum that will be (or was) used to create the superhero known as Captain America. Apparently in the film, William Hurt’s General Thunderbolt Ross tells Tim Roth’s Emil Blonsky about a weapons program initiated during World War II to create a “super soldier” before giving him the injection.
Excited? Here are ten more Hulk photos to fill the month’s gap.
