I had the pleasure of getting to know the guys and products behind the SteelSeries!SteelSeries is a gaming products company based out of Copenhagen, Denmark back in 2001. In 10 years, they’ve become known for producing some high quality and professional standard gaming accessories and are most noted for their amazing headsets.
From their website:
“We won’t bore you with cheeky slogans, trying to underline our authenticity as gamers. We fully acknowledge that the best professional gamers in the world know more about what they want and what will make them better, than we do. We are proud to be working with our partners, but we can’t take credit for their invaluable input and feedback. Instead we tell it like it is: they help us. We want to know what works and what doesn’t. For this reason, SteelSeries creates innovative solutions that provide a competitive advantage for all gamers.”
It’s one thing to see a product, and the cool design or the neat advertising, but once you actually get your hands on the product and feel the quality, it’s no wonder that professional gaming teams like USA’s EvilGeniuses and Germany’s SK Gaming CHOOSE to use SteelSeries in their competitions. Vice President Kim Rom described the beginning of SteelSeries as guys who couldn’t make it as deejays so they turned to gaming. Gaming’s cooler anyway!
SteelSeries offers products such as gaming mice, keyboards, and of course, headsets. Their newest product is their Siberia v2 headset, an improved version of the original Siberia headset. Like all the current headsets that are available, the Siberia v2 comes with a retractable mic from the left earphone for better packing, and also makes it great to use for music.
It is also offered with or without a USB sound card. And much like the Siberia, this headset is lightweight and comes with its trademark headband suspension construction that makes it comfortable for use over long periods of gaming or music listening. The Siberia v2 is currently available in black or white and retails for $89.99.
Personally, I tend to stay away from full sized headsets and opt for earbuds when listening to music, but there aren’t too many options for gaming. As Kim mentioned, the Danish tend to have spiky and outrageous hairstyles, and like women who spend a lot of time on their hair, they hate to mess it up with headsets. I personally love the Siberia Neckband behind-the-head phones. Like the regular Siberia v2, this set has a retractable microphone, and it’s also compatible with the Xbox 360. The neat thing about this set is that the neckband stretches and contracts to fit the wearer and rests on the neck. I think this pair goes with my outfit!

And on a final note, SteelSeries is the official sponsor for the Iron.Lady gaming competition held annually in China in which top female Warcraft 3 players around Asian battle it out for prizes uses SteelSeries gear. More on that subject another day, but you can find out more for yourself on their Iron.Lady page. And don’t forget to swing by the official SteelSeries website to check out their full line of gaming products!

I wondered where those pictures came from. I’m not really a pc gamer though.

Yeah, I’m mostly into the headsets as I’m not really into PC gaming either. But they have amazing products that wish you were into PC gaming!

Looks interesting. I’m more a Logitech fan, but I wouldn’t mind checking their stuff out. ^^

i need to get me some nice headsets (ones that cover the whole ear… half covering ones hurt after like 30 minutes). those would be awesome, but i don’t think the white brings out the color of my eyes well enough =P
