Review: And you thought your family had issues. The Dragon Prince mini-series by Ron Marz comes to a fiery conclusion with this issue, and it’s been a fun ride. Not mind-blowing by any means, but solid, good quality comic. Ain’t nothin’ wrong with that (except my grammar)!
Oh, snap! Not only has Aaron found out his Dad’s a dragon in the span of mere days, but Aaron has also learned that he’s a dragon-in-training and his Mom’s magically inclined. Plus, more family secrets came spilling out at the end of the previous issue, which makes you consider that if it wasn’t for Ron Marz’s tidy finish and well-executed writing, this might make a good soap opera … Or an episode of Jerry Springer.
Madigan decides if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em. One gold, living entity of irony coming up! It’s a happy ending (for most), and my only gripe is that I would have liked to find out more about a certain tattooed character. But hey, you can’t win them all. Turns out he’s a big ol’ softie, anyway.
Well, uhm, sort of.
Dragon Prince is worth reading through once or twice, so if you haven’t, I recommend picking up the comic when the trade comes out this spring. It’s fresh, but not over-the-top with the “wow” factor, so don’t expect something phenomenal. Still, I enjoyed it; despite my prior complaints about the artist (Eragon has the BLUE cover, Eldest is the RED, poser!), Lee Moder can draw one mean dragon.

Alright, my thoughts. The issue seemed to come to a close rather fast, but it was still a great read. I am sad it is over! I really came to like Aaron, and the silly sense of humor Marz instilled him with. The Vampire joke was hilarious. I can’t believe how much of a dick his grandpa was though. And I like that there is some room for a continuing series!
