Oni Press gave us an early look at the premiere of RESURRECTION’s full-color second volume. The extraterrestrial aftermath continues as the survivors meet in an unexpected reunion.
Resurrection #1
Publisher: Oni Press
Writer: Marc Guggenheim
Artist: Justin Greenwood
Summary: The ground-breaking series from hit writer Marc Guggenheim (AMAZING SPIDER-MAN, TV’s ELI STONE) returns in a new full color ongoing series!
The invasion came swiftly and without warning. But after ten years of death and destruction raining down from above, the otherworldly oppressors have vanished. Why did the leave? Why did they attack in the first place? And where do the survivors go from here? Find out in this action-packed, intrigue-fueled new series!
Review: The first run of Guggenheim’s post-alien invasion story, RESURRECTION, proved that greater dangers than the “Bugs” await the survivors after the physical threat mysteriously disappeared from Earth. A top secret operation called “Longbow,” a larger conspiracy, and an abandoned extraterrestrial lurked behind the events of the first volume, which means what comes next should offer readers a few solid answers as well as lead us deeper into the real plot at hand.
RESURRECTION #1 takes a step back—literally. The early pages replay the series’ introduction, but instead of following Sara as she travels to King to find her son, the story focuses on those she left behind. The comic jumps ahead several times in order to catch up to where the previous run ended, which in turn makes the flow seem a little choppy and rushed. Besides filling in some gaps—and not as impressively as the bonus content in THE INSURGENT EDITION, either—not much occurs concerning the overall story’s progression.
Although the comic switches from black-and-white to colorfully illustrated panels, artist Justin Greenwood just as easily implements the prominent shadows and contrasts that I enjoyed from the first volume. However, the creative song lyric excerpts vanished, much to my disappointment.
RESURRECTION #1 lays down the groundwork for the title’s second installment, but unless you’re determined to snatch up the issue coming out tomorrow, you could get away with waiting until next time.

Hmm, never heard of this one actually. Doesn’t seem like my kind of thing though.
