Comic Preview: Halo: Helljumper #1

previews-marvel.jpg

An alien theocratic race is attacking planets with the ultimate goal of ridding the universe of all humanity.

The introduction page has some shoddy sentence structure and in fact, seems unnecessary considering there is a cleaner introduction (I believe it’s the back cover since the page shows the barcode). Overlooking that, a Halo fan should be intrigued by the promise of a war between the humans and the new threat called The Covenant. “Helljumper” isn’t just describing the story arc or the most advanced Spartans to date, but also the rather quick segues that abruptly jump from introducing a bad-ass Spartan trainee to the greater story about what the troops find on the planet Ariel. The Covenant usually leaves death and destruction in its wake but Ariel is not showing any of the usual signs of a Covenant presence. This five-part series leads up to the Halo 3: ODST (Orbital Drop Shock Troopers or “Helljumpers”) video game which is set to release near the end of September.
