For me the anticipation began months ago:
Is it bad I’m already dreaming of SDCC ‘09?

That was the title of my post on the Kidrobot message board, on February 19th of this year. Then, it seemed mildly ridiculous to be so excited about San Diego Comic Con, when New York Comic Con was only days away.
But now, I think it’s safe to say: “HOLY CRAP!” because Comic Con is right around the corner. For those of you who frequent conventions, you know the pain of waiting for the days to drop off the calendar. With the growing list of exclusives and massive amount of guests awaiting us at the
San Diego Convention Center, who wouldn’t be excited?

Comic Con brings all sorts of exclusives: prints, limited edition runs of your favorite comics, updates about new projects, drawings from your favorite artists, and always new toys! When people hear Comic Con they traditionally don’t think about Urban Vinyl, but SDCC is one of the Designer Toy Industry’s biggest gatherings! So if you are headed to SDCC this year and are unfamiliar with Designer Toys it will be a great opportunity for you to peruse the aisles and check out what everyone has on display.
Aside from the obvious excitement the artists, writers, and exclusives bring, you get to see your con friends! Having been a convention goer for years I have stacked up some good friends I really only see a few times a year at various conventions. The GEN girls are some of my favorite people, but sadly we are spread out

around the country and most of us don’t get to see each other all that often. So not only do I get to see my lovely ladies, but the majority of them will be cosplaying too! We have some very talented cosplayers in our bunch, and I can’t wait to see what they have in store this year.
Here are a few things that I am excited for at year’s Comic Con:
- Finally getting a comic signed by Bill Willingham
- Hoping for a new Shawnimals SDCC toy!
- Checking out what’s new at Top Shelf
- Eisner Awards!
- Joe Ledbetter releases!
- Buying a million Tokidoki zipper pulls/phone charms
- Getting to see all the friends I miss!
Somebody is tired!

I’m really excited and intrigued to see footage from Avatar. I mean after all the hype surrounding the 24 minute footage that was shown at the CinemaExpo International in Amsterdam. It’s hard not to get excited. Also any information or footage from TRON2. It’s a long shot though.

The Cosplayers are what makes Conventions special for me!

I have yet to attend a big con like NYCC or SDCC, but I really want to go someday!
