Put a smile on that face, because according to Gary Oldman (yeah, why is that Oldman is the one cool enough to confirm this piece of info?), a movie-to-game adaptation of the summer hit, The Dark Knight, is on its way.
UPDATE: There’s going to be a Watchmen video game, as well! More info on that after the jump.
Unfortunately, we won’t be able to get our hands on it until near the end of the year (about when the movie comes out on dvd and Blu-ray). It’s weird—usually video games based on movies like this come out around the same time as the films do. At any rate, we are indeed getting one, so thank the comic gods for that. And don’t forget LEGO Batman comes out in the fall! :DThe word on the street is that Pandemic is working on the title.

Plus, according to /Film, Warner Brothers Interactive Entertainment has announced that they will be making a series of video games based on the movie adaptation of the twelve-comic story, Watchmen (written by Alan Moore). These games will be downloads only for the PC, Playstation 3, and Xbox 360.
Discuss: I’m actually wondering if Heath Ledger’s unfortunate and untimely demise had anything to do with this stall in production. What do you guys think?
And what’s up with this Watchmen announcement? I’m not sure what to think of that.

It’s possible that Ledger’s death made an impact on why it wasn’t released at the same time as the movie.
IMO though, I think they’re just taking their time with it. According to the pandemic website, they have 3 projects which are still under wraps. Project B, which I think is the Batman one is said to be the most ambitious project the studio has ever worked on. My theory….:an open ended Gotham City!

If that’s so, then that’s comforting—I’d rather them take their time and do it right. Oohh, and a non-linear-styled Gotham would be incredible!

I’ve never played a movie to video game game ever. They are always bad, and if they aren’t bad, they’re short.
Lego Batman though = win.

I have the Batman Begins game for Playstation. It wasn’t bad—it was actually pretty fun. It just pissed me off I couldn’t skip cutscenes, especially when I got died a lot during the final battle sequence. But yeah, my only other (major) gripe was that it was so short, meh. But otherwise, a fun game that I’ve played multiple times.
I mean, you get to be Batman and kick ass.
Although, in retrospect, I think the fighting system is a little flawed. Sometimes you could totally kick butt at a decent pace and move on, and other times it took a ridiculously long time to kill bad guys. Like, it was just tiresome, and then you just died and had to suffer through a cutscene.
LOL, but overall … it’s a fun game. x)

If they make a Watchmen game, I just want to know one thing…
Who is watching the gamers watching the Watchmen game?

Haha, now that’s just getting confusing. ;D

With the movie being so well done, one has hopes for a good Batman title there’ve been precious few ;(

If GeminiDragon has it right, then they’re taking their time with it: and that’s a good sign!
