If your brain works anything like mine and you consider yourself a fan of unique gaming experiences, than the mere mention of the word SPORE should give you those funny butterfly feelings in the pit of your stomach. Okay, so maybe not exactly that but the highly anticipated game coming out later this year is sure to excite even the most avid of anti-gamers. Set to release in early September ‘08, SPORE offers the experiences to create, live and control the science of evolution through your own personal creature conception. You ever wanted to create a colony of gorilla-like pink dragonfly things with a horns coming out of their skulls? Then this game is for you!
The options you have over your life form are endless and how you decide to evolve them is all up to you and your imagination. While an actual in-depth explanation of this “massively single-player online game” would take me ages to write, you’ll be eager to know that there isn’t just one main storyline throughout the entire game. Instead, there are 5 different unique life phases that you and your creature can experience: Cell, Creature, Tribal, Civilization and Space. With Will Wright (SimCity/The Sims) behind the wheel there is no doubt in my mind that SPORE will become a favorite among gamers from all across the spectrum. Since the full version of SPORE won’t be released until September 7th, 2008 (the 5th for you lucky Europeans), those interested in the game should head on over to the SPORE website and download the free demo of the Creature Creator.
If you want an even better experience in creating your being, there will also be the option of downloading (or buying at a retail store!) the full Creature Creator Complete for $9.95 starting June 18th. While the price is tempting and the demo simply offers a fraction of what the complete set would offer, I’ve opted for the demo only and that more than sealed the deal for me as far as I’m concerned. While SPORE is one for the PC/Mac folks to keep on their radar, there will also be cute and child friendlier version readily available for the Nintendo DS.
Speaking of gorilla-like pink dragonfly things with a horn coming out of its skull, I’d like for everyone to meet Mr. Peabody Bartholomew Jenkins (A.K.A. Mr. PB&J). Did I mention the Creature Creator has an option for you to upload a video of your character onto your YouTube account? Now that’s what I call and extra feature!

Thanks! :p I’m still trying to get the hang of actually posting. Aktrez has been guiding me so she’s being very helpful and patient.
You’ll be seeing a lot of me….mwhahahahaha >:D

Haha! And yeah, she is. If you ever need anything and Aktrez isn’t around don’t hesitate to ask!

A cute little distraction, entertained me for about an hour but definitely not worth $10.

Ohhh I love Spore. It’s probably the thing I’m most looking forward to this year.
Full version of the Creature Creator being pushed back was lame. And stores around here aren’t getting it until the 18th. Still it’s amazing the amount of flexibility and creativity you have with just 25% of the content, and I’ve been having way too much with it as is.
Don’t forget. It seems Target is offering a 5$ rebate on the Full Game when you buy the Creature Creator there~!

Greatest. Game. Ever. Made.
I’m calling it now. At least, it will be for me, hands down.
I’m also SO stoked and happy with Will Wright that the system requirements are LESS than my ancient system requires to easily run the game.
What more can you want from a game than infinite play? It would take over 60 REAL years to see every planet in the game environment, and you get the benefit of other players creations without them ruining your gameplay by being in the game itself. Perfectly executed.
I can’t wait!

Some of these are quite frightening. My boyfriend and I were looking at the ones on youtube last night, and they were just… bizarre.
