While other places on the web *Cough* Penny Arcade *Cough* are mocking the idea, I gotta hand it to the manufacturers of Gamer Grub for coming up with a fast/fun and fantastic food fix for my feverish fingers while I feast on foes.
I had the opportunity to not only try 3 of the 4 flavors (not so much a wasabi fan myself) during E for All this year but to also clean up all the cups left at our booth. The ammount of empty cups being deposited on the GEN table was a sure sign that Gamer Grub was a success.
With nuts, fruits and chocolate (mmmmmm … gifts from the gods) I believe that as long as they keep the pricing doable, Gamer Grub may just be the next “Hot Pockets”.
What are your thoughts on this new invention?

I thought it was great. I loved the idea and the product. The PB&Nuts was my fave. The wasabi you have to be a fan of to like. Chocolate, that is a no brainer. And the Pizza was really good. I hope this idea does great and takes off because I would love to buy this as I game.

Actually, I think the amount of empty cups probably just means Jinx needs to be fed more often…
Unfortunately, I find myself siding with Penny Arcade on this one. Gamer Grub doesn’t hold a candle to Naked trail mix (available at a Costco near you!), and I imagine most people who would otherwise be in need of “gamer grub” have already settled on their favorite brand of potato chips, or the nearest pizza delivery joint.
Still, if Jinx likes it, that’s all that matters, right?

I really like it. Especially the Sports BB&J. One of my old college friends kept coming back for more when we were there. lol.

This was probably the best snack mix I have ever tasted in my life. Just the thought of someone making an almost PERFECT ‘pizza” mix is a winner in my book… AND they did it with nuts!

I’m sure the basic concept is good but the market can be really hard on new products especially since they are competing with so many others
I really do like the idea of healthy snackfood while gaming though, and except for the wasabi the flavors sound decent to me (spicy flavor may be alright I’d have to try it) - but uhm, what exactly is the gamer grub’s “Base”. Is it like straight up trail mix, with flavorings? or are there other varieties than just trailmix?
All the above said - it doesn’t have to be “For gaming” specifically to sell me on it, has to taste good and be healthy

The base if different for all of the mix. “Pizza” is your basic pub mix, PB& J is nuts and fruit stuff, Wasabi is Snow Peas, and Chocolate is nuts and candy.

The Gamer Grub was not to bad (My fav is the PB&J), but I needed something to wash it down after a while. Gaming grub is one of those things that has evolved over the years (Remeber the days of Funyuns and Mountian Dew). While the product was tasty, I’d like to see where they go next in this trend (Besides we all know the GEN girls will keep us in the loop!)

So many people are saying “Well, I would just buy trailmix” but, it’s the same thing with cool marketing. I mean, it’s clever. No different from the thousands of energy drinks that are on the market.

I totally agree with your analysis on this. Me, personally, wouldn’t buy trail mix cause it makes your fingers sticky (oh nom nom nom).

I will give it a try, and eat if it is good. I understand why they try to brand it twords gamers, otherwise it would be a bit difficult to enter the snack market - it is a bit saturated already! HAHA! But I would give it a chance, the Pizza mix sounds good!

And breathing in Los Angeles is any better? Yellow #9 has to be drunken in mass quantity (about 3-4 concentrated gallons in a day) to have the cancerous effect it had in mice (and Dew is diluted).
