Entry 502 in an ongoing series about the music of videos games is now posted, featuring Space Channel 5: Special Edition, which includes Space Channel 5 Part 1 and Part 2.
Space Channel 5 started out on the classic Sega system, the Dreamcast. The game features Ulala, one of the forgotten gaming goddesses and awesome funky music in vein of the Austin Powers films. As Ulala, you report the news for Space Channel 5 while also dancing and fighting aliens to the funky music. A glorified Simon says mixed with a 70’s rock opera makes for one heck of a good time.
Various versions and ports of the game are available from our friends at Goozex, the best deal being the Special Edition for PS2 that is only 100 points and come with both games!
Now if only Winona Ryder would cosplay Ulala, my dreams would come true!

I super <3 Space Channel 5! One of my favorite games EVAR. I still have a 5 ft cardboard cutout of her in my bedroom. I may have to fire it up again!

Cool! The dance steps were nimbly performed and energetic. I never really played this game, is this like the Dance Dance Revolution or the Parappa the Rapper? Or an entirely different game that just involves dancing?
