The time has come to announce the 2008 GEN Pumpkin Carving Contest winner! While we ask you to excuse the delay in results, we promise the photos are worth the wait. A total of three GEN members sent in their geek themed pumpkins, but what the contest lacked in quantity was made up in quality. Check out their carvings below.
As a refresher, the rules for the contest are listed below:
1. Sadly, GEN editors can not enter the contest. This is a community contest only.
2. The submission must be “geek-flavored” in some way, shape or form. It can be video game, anime or comic related, or any other topic covered on the GEN site.
3. You can enter the contest as many times as you like, each time with a different pumpkin design.
4. You must include a sign with your name somewhere in your submission photo, to prove that you yourself carved the pumpkin.
5. Submission deadline is October 31 at midnight.
6. We will put all the submissions up in a gallery for the community to see November 1.
7. The winner will be chosen by the GEN editors and announced November 2.
Contestant #1: Elizabeth Amber
Subject: Black Cat and Captain America
Contestant #2: Paul Gale
Subject: Jack Skellington and Ryu from Street Fighter

Contestant #3: LouAnn
Subject: Darth Maul
After a lengthy discussion by all the editors here at GEN, we have a winner! Congratulations to Elizabeth Amber, for both her amazing carvings, which are original designs inspired by the Marvel characters Black Cat and Captain Marvel. While Captain Marvel came out on top, both the pumpkins highlight her attention to detail and devotion to all things nerdy.
As the winner, Elizabeth Amber will be receiving a custom GEN prize pack. We will be in touch with her shortly to get the necessary information needed to get the goods shipped!
Thanks to all who entered.
A special thanks to Top Cow who generously donated prizes for the contest!
As a bonus, we included a mini gallery of our own GEN editor’s pumpkins below. Enjoy!
