With the power of comics, we can take up arms and fight together for a worthy cause.

The Luna Brothers are two of my favorite comic book creators. Both are talented writers and artists, and currently they dish out this great Image comic called The Sword. You may have heard of it. It’s pretty amazing.
Awhile back I talked with the Brothers about The Sword, and the experience was one of my best. So I was thrilled to learn from a good friend of theirs, Rommel S. Calderon, that they were joining the fight against blood cancers by helping to raise money for his Leukemia and Lymphoma Society fund-raising project.
On May 31, 2009, Calderon will be running the San Diego Rock N Roll Marathon with the Society’s Team In Training (TNT). He hopes to raise a minimum of $2,500, all of which will be donated to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. In support of his goal, Jonathan and Joshua Luna (Girls, Ultra) are collaborating with a drawing that will make us comic fans quite happy. I’m already drooling all over my keyboard.
For every $10 you donate, your name will be entered into the drawing to win some truly awesome prizes—and the best part is, you can donate as many times as you’d like! The Grand Prize is a glossy Girls: The Complete Collection over-sized hardcover and a unique sketch by the Lunas.

You don’t have to be the top donor to grab some sweet swag, though. The drawing is completely random, so whether you donate once or twenty times, you have a good chance. Of course, the more you donate, the greater that chance becomes. Plus, along with the Grand Prize winner there will be two runners-up. The second place winner will snag copies of the Ultra: Seven Days and The Sword Vol. 1: Fire trade paperbacks, and the third place winner will receive Spider-Woman: Origins. Of course, all of the prizes are going to be signed and personalized by the Luna Brothers themselves! Shiny.

The drawing will be held Friday, July 3. Although you can continue to donate beyond that date, if you want a chance at winning any of the prizes you’ll have to get your entries in before July 1, 12 pm PST. For more information about the project and to find out how to donate to this great and inspiring cause, visit Calderon’s TNT page.

That hardcover Girls collection is hot, I can’t resist. Don’t feel bad though Stephanie, I didn’t have plans for this $10 anyway.

Very drool-worthy.
The hardcover, not your $10.
