I am a die hard Lost fan and when I heard that Ubisoft was making a Lost game I was thrilled. I know that movie and tv show video games 9 times outta 10 are pretty disappointing and I knew that they didn’t even get all of the actors to do the voice acting, but I had high hopes for the Lost game either way.
Once I got to my local EB Games, even the employee warned me about the game being no good and extremely short when I when up to the counter to purchase it. Ouch. Now I was getting worried, even my boyfriend reminded me that the Lost game got poor reviews. I went home and popped it into my 360 anyways and was completely surprised! The game started out amazing, it began with your character in the plane right before it goes down, it was like being in the show. Fans of the show will really appreciate the little touches and details that they added to the game to make you really feel as if you are playing through the show right alongside your favorite characters. You follow their storylines and backgrounds as you figure out your own history through navigating back flashes. After seeing me play it and helping with one of the puzzles, now my boyfriend is excited about playing Lost…but on his machine so he can get the achievements too.

I had a lot of fun playing through Lost Via Domus, I think even people who have never seen the show could really enjoy this adventure game. I must admit, it was rather short, took me a full day and night of pretty much non-stop playing, so yeah, it’s not the longest game ever, but a it is a hell of a lot of fun. I totally recommend the Lost game to any gamer who is a fan of adventure games, you don’t have to be a fan of the show to enjoy this one. If you’re looking for something quick to play while you wait for the next big game to come out, then I say go to your local Blockbuster and rent Lost, you will quickly get hooked. I want to give you more info on the game itself…but I don’t want to spoil anything for those of you who haven’t seen the show. Giving away too much could spoil the whole game. So, I guess you just have to go out and see for yourself.

Good to hear you liked it, I was wishy washy on this game, as you said, most games based on TV or Movies usually suck

Good to see that you thought it was cool. I too was skeptical, because I’m a die-hard LOST fan as well and didn’t know if it would live up to what I think it should be.

I was just coming to post a review of this in the forums… you beat me to it! =P
I agree that it’s not as bad as other show-to-game reviews, but for being based on the best show *ever, ever, ever, ever*… it could have been SO much more. In my opinion, the thing that saves the game is the fact that the source material is *Lost*.
After all, there’s no way you can’t get that feeling of blood rushing through your veins when something really cool or suspenseful is said and then the “Lost” logo and sound pop up. I also highly enjoy the “previously on Lost” moments that make it feel like the TV show.
The graphics are actually pretty good, and the characters look like you recognize them (except Kate, who doesn’t really look as good as Evangeline Lilly)…but other than the original characters, the voice acting is mostly TERRIBLE. Sawyer and Michael’s characters in particular. Kate’s is pretty generic. Jack’s is the best.
The game play is ok so far as games of this genre go, but there are major design flaws in the dialogue system that tend to be true of most adventure games… Overall, it’s better than most efforts of the sort, but it’s not something I can glowingly recommend. I wish one of these days one of the game gods would get ahold of one of these killer licenses and make a jaw-dropping game out of the material. I mean, you’ve got everything handed to you on a platter with Lost… but companies like Ubisoft are never going to put out a really high quality product… they’re going to fish it off to a cheesy developer to make the quick maximum buck!
If I were to give my ultimate suggestion, I’d say rent it or borrow it- it’s worth a look for Lost fans- because it’s Lost, after all.. but I can’t say you’d be thrilled to spend cash on it- even if you live for Lost!

I was just mostly impressed with even tho I knew the story line of Lost and I knew what was going to happen, the story was so well written and had such a great “Lost” feel that it still had me wondering and trying to figure out my characters part in all of this. The whole game was true to the “Lost” feeling of things and it didn’t feel like a quick rip-off like I was expecting.
And the ending…oh my god…that was a Lost ending if I have ever seen one!

There are definitely great Lost moments in it… the bumps at the beginning and end of “episodes” are right out of the how-to-make-a-Lost-episode cheat sheat! =)
I do appreciate the side-by-side timeline… you see and/or hear about the other activities on the island 2nd hand, which makes you really feel like part of the original story.
Of course, you could show a hamster to me sitting in its cage and then play the Lost bumper and I’d get chills down my spine. =D

I love the show but when it got to the middle of hte 2nd season they just started to suck.
It was a very grab you by the ass of your pants and then throws you back inot your seat after it was done. Then they went off on weird other stories. Then what pissed me off about the show was when you think they are showing a new episode and WHAM its either a rerun or one of them episodes where it sums up the past episode for you. GAH! I stopped watching it after the 3rd season
cus I was LOST myself on the show.

I love how the show confuses the hell outta me, I like to use my imagination and not have everything spelled out for me. The show started to get a little weird in mid of second season but quickly got back to it’s roots. This new season is kicking my ass and I love every second of it. I love it when they answer one question but the answer raises 3 more questions, I love how things come together so simply yet you never saw it coming and I love how subtle they throw big things at you and they just hit you right in the face. One of the best shows to ever grace my tv…that and Firefly and Dexter.

That pretty much sums the show up right there: “..they answer one question but the answer raises 3 more questions”
I never got into this show. I need some kind of resolution or I won’t stay hooked. Plus didn’t they kill off Dom Monaghan? He and I were going to get married

I could talk about Lost for hours.
The show had some low moments, but as soon as the scheduled the end of the contract, everything took shape. I think for awhile the writers just didn’t know how much time they had to fill.
March 4th, 2008 at 8:29 pm
People don’t tend to realize that everything in the show has meaning- there’s never been “filler” in Lost. So, even in the shows that everyone hated (like with the young couple that was “introduced” in the middle of everything), the actions and ideas within still have vital meaning to the overarching plot- there’s nothing that’s just been in there to buy time without meaning. It will all tie in to ultimate answers in some way, shape or form- either as allegory, example or directly.
I think one thing that catches many people off guard about lost is that it’s so unique it has hidden its true genre, and some people aren’t aware of what they’re watching.
Lost is a *science fiction* show! A lot of people think it’s based in reality, like Law and Order, just because it deals with people and planes and Earth, etc. Uh… no. There are no smoke monsters in reality, and not all science fiction needs spaceships and aliens. It just needs two things: Science. And fiction. =D
I can guarantee you three things about Lost:
1.) The ultimate “answers” to the show will involve supernatural and/or metaphysical aspects- brush up on your dimensional theories, relativism, and philosophy in regards to balance between halves and the whole…
2.) The show will end with questions remaining (it’s only appropriate, and it wouldn’t be Lost if it didn’t!)…
3.) No matter *what* the finale is for the show, it will be roundly and harshly bashed by the majority of people. =P
Ok, I had to take a pot shot with the third one. Sorry, I’m jaded about how jaded people are! But I know I’m right- the ending is going to frustrate a lot of people! In today’s world, it’s hard to please anymore- but I can just see people now… “What? They didn’t answer blah! What’s blah mean? What happened to blah? Why was blah, blah blah?”
If you’re not actively participating in Lost, you’re losing out on the point! It’s not passive television! =D
On a side note, I finally got to the end of Lost: Via Domus and indeed, it has an outstanding ending. EXTREMELY befitting of Lost… it makes you go, “WHAT!?”
Which is, of course, the point. =D
