MaddenWidow: The Internet to Uwe Boll “Please Stop”

During a recent interview Uwe Boll learned that there was is petition online demanding that he stop making/producing/even watching movies. At the time of the interview the petition had garnered 18,000 signatures. “18,000 is not enough to convince me,” Boll responded. When asked how many signatures it would take, he replied “One million. Now we have a new goal.”

Boll was clearly unaware of the fact that the first 18,000 signatures were all the people who have actually seen his films, the rest of them knew better.

“I give all my movies a thumbs up”

The petition should come as no surprise. Boll’s movies have constantly been critically panned by both movie-goers and critics. In 2006 Boll even challenged any critic who had given him a negative review to a boxing match. Here’s a hint for you Mr. Boll, when you feel that you have to beat up the people who are mean to you something may be wrong with your movies. Three of his movies also have the distinct honor of being listed on IMDb’s bottom 100.

A few comments left by people who have already signed:

For the love of all gamers…STOP THE MADDNESS!!!

please stop, for the sake of the children if nothing else!

Please, for the love of god, let the reign of terror come to an end. I know a good video game movie is possible, but as long as Uwe Boll continues to get every single one that seems like a very distant dream.

may life bring you many more challenges and rewards but please stop making movies. all the best.

If I bought a DVD of a Uwe Boll film and opened the box to find that, instead of the expected plastic disc, I had unleashed an endless wave of flesh eating parasitic insects who dived straight for my face, it would be slightly better value for money than seeing Alone in the Dark or House of the Dead. If any of the actors of said films had a shred of decency they would have hired a hit on him. (That one is my personal favorite)

Time will tell if he sticks to his word and retires, or if he will continue to ignore the criticism and continue making BloodRayne sequels.

i personally think he was hired by the government to get people to stop playing videogames by watching his horrible movies. Why else would he keep making movies, its not like any of them make money anyway.

  2. MaddenWidow MaddenWidow Says:

That’s a good theory but he gets all the money he wants for the films and that won’t be stopping anytime soon. Apparently in Germany there are HUGE tax incentives to finance film projects like his. Think of it like the plot from the Producers. Those guys get their tax breaks and he gets money. It’s a win win for them and lose for us.

Maybe the original IP owners then should hear what we are saying:

Uwe Boll CAN NOT make movies based off our favorite games anymore.

Bottom line, he has proven himself incapable of doing them justice in film. A little money isn’t enough to keep Game Developers/Producers from seeing our disdain for this man and his ‘art’.

If we tell them loudly enough that we aren’t happy with him, hopefully they’ll listen.

Hopefully we get around 10-15 thousand sigs a day. Everybody spread this around!

    Ooooo…. eck… no… :S

I dunno why everyone always picks on my boy Uwe! He is a misunderstood cinematic genius whose works should be celebrated, not condemned!

  6. MaddenWidow MaddenWidow Says:

So I take it that you’re one of the 18,000 people who have actually seen one of his films.

  7. TheDCD TheDCD Says:

Yeah, right, the only thing that can stop Uwe Boll is death.

And even that’s not 100 percent guaranteed.

  8. VampireKitten VampireKitten Says:

I’ve already attempted to put several hits out on the man lmao. Honesty, one of my first articles was going to be on this… but as I started writing it I decided how he doesn’t deserve anymore press and that I would completely bore the minds out of the populous.

  9. Traycee Traycee Says:

    Hahaha.. I don’t hate the man personally… but I definitely don’t think he’s a genius…but thats ok, to each his own. :P

… but my brother on the other hand wishes a mysterious, deadly skin rash on him…. *ooo*

Oh man, While I do think that his movies are crap (how could he kill one of my favorite characters the way he did with that BloodRayne movie?), uhh, I don’t think he should stop making movies. Sounds weird, I know, but if that is what he wants to do, let him do it.

What should stop, however, is these damn game companies giving him license to make movies about their characters. Seriously, they see how bad his movies are, and yet they still give him permission to make one using their properties. That is who is to blame. If they didn’t give him the right to make a movie about their games, he would just make horrible b movies about other subjects.

But that is just my opinion.

Gaming companies are at fault as much as the companies who fund it.

    Don’t know if you’re aware of this but… http://www.gametrailers.com/player/usermovies/201191.html?playlist=featured

So he wants one million signs “on paper”, and he calls himself “genius”. A genius of game franchises devastation, I’d say.

In any case, now I hate him a bit more, and really wish that game companies stop allowing him to destroy their products (because, believe it or not, it’s killing their market place)
