If you remember back in the early days of GEN, I was pretty stoked when I first learned about the DC Direct Ame-Comi figures. The original set of five figures included anime renditions of Batgirl, Catwoman, Wonder Woman, Powergirl, Supergirl and Cheetah.
The line of PVC figures were created to bring East and West together, and did quite successfully if you ask me. I currently have all but Catwoman and Cheetah sitting on my desk. The only problem with the newest set is that DC Direct – the company distributing Udon studios’ work – realized what an amazing concept they had on their hands and raised the price range. Where the non-articulated figures first sold for $39.99 - $49.99, the price has been upped to a span from $49.99 -$59.99. It sucks, but I still need to own a few of these gems.
The figures are limited edition, hand-painted and stand at 9 inches tall. Each of them comes with a clear stand and black base to help display them wherever needed.
In the new run we get an anime-infusion of Donna Troy, Zatanna, Hawkgirl, Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn. I am in love with Poison Ivy and Hawkgirl, but am sadly disappointed by the representation of my home-girl Zatanna. I don’t really get the blue hair. O-well, that saves me $49.99. Check out the figures, price info and ship dates below.

So what do you think? Did you add any of these girls to your shopping list? Again, since DC Direct is the mastermind behind these figures, you have to ask your local comic retailer to order them to get your hands on them. Get on that!

Zatanna huh? You must be excited, but for me it’s all about Ivy and Harley.

Harley and Ivy, whooo!
Hahaha yeah, I don’t get the blue hair, either. Although I believe there was one version of the character (at some point) that had blue hair …

Poison Ivy and Harley look pretty cool
Zatanna is suprisingly nice too but I don’t remember her having Bright blue hair (dark, sure but not bright)
@49 - 59 a pop they are a bit steep, Excellent figures but ow. My collection is missing a decent Harley.. I could try getting this one, or try to hunt down the Tokyo imported one… >.< (hope they dont bring these out till next year though, wallet is already bleeding from all the games)

I do love the Poison Ivy. They really nailed it with her.
I have the PowerGirl at my desk. Anyone want to do an Ame-Comi cosplay group for Comic-Con? ^_^

… … … I think Belle Chere is onto an awesome idea there. Imagine seeing the GEN cosplaying as the Ame Comi figures outfits. That would be freaking sweet.
@EB: I wonder what guys you would like to see as this style, EB.
Or for anyone here for that matter… what male characters would you like to see given this treatment. I like the females ones myself, but if they did have male versions, three that they would have to do right off the bat should be Supes, Bats, and GL. Ohh, I can just imagine a Flash done like this also.

Hmmmmm…I’d like for them to do a Batman/Azreal, a Robin/Nightwing, a Joker, an Aquaman, a Mandarin, and a Flash as a start. I think Sups and Caps are too iconic to see it Done justice.
I’d also like to see an Ame-Marv series. /drool

I was wondering why Marvel never took full advantage of using some of UDON studios talent when they had them doing some of their comics like Taskmaster and Agent X. Marvel so could have had something like this way before anyone, but they just dropped the ball on it.
