Usually when you check out a collectibles site, the figures you find are generally from movies, television and sometimes history. Whether it’s high quality sculpture, action figures or even dashboard bobble-heads, these were usually the staple collectibles we could expect. Now one of the best suspense horror video game series is being cast into some crazy impressive figures. Even though the name may be different, there’s no mistaking the origin of the BIOHAZARD 5 series.
Fresh from Hot Toys, I give you Chris Redfield. Soon to be gracing your collector’s shelf, this 12 inch figure is impeccably detailed and sports a real fabric uniform. The furrow in Chris’ brow, 5 o’clock shadow - it’s all there. There are over 21 points of articulation in this figure and it comes with an impressive arsenal of weapons and 2 interchangeable hands with gloves. (Sorry, no typewriter) Some of the goodies include: Knife, Compass, Handgun, Headset, Machine Gun, PDA and Rocket Launcher. Chris Redfield is a part of the BIOHAZARD 5 series on Hot Toys, joined by Sheva Alomar and they are expected for arrival 3rd quarter.
But don’t dispair Resident Evil fans, it doesn’t end with BIOHAZARD 5. Already released (although currently sold out on Hot Toys) are the 30cm tall action figures for BIOHAZARD 4. Yours for the coveting are Leon S. Kennedy, Ganado and Jack Krauser (pre and post transformation). While not the heavy detailed 12″ figures of BIOHAZARD 5, these action figures are impressive in their own right, justifying why they sold out so quickly. While Hot Toys has currently only created figures based off of the last two Resident Evil games, who knows what could be in store. Dioramas? Zombie figures? Perhaps if we’re lucky, we will see the original Resident Evil characters in 12″ figure form. How great would it to have a Barry Burton figure that came with a pool of blood diorama? “I hope this isn’t Chris’ blood”.
