Next Stop: Park Falls

It’s no trick! The creators of the horror comic Awakening will be touring the east coast this Halloween season—and they’re bringing treats.

Writer Nick Tapalansky and artist Alex Eckman-Lawn have produced a popular Archaia series that boasts high praise and recognition in what otherwise remains a tired subject: zombies. Or so they think—”they” being the residents of Park Falls, who are finding the balance tipped by a strange disease or affliction that’s affecting their masses, turning ordinary humans into flesh-eating monsters.

If you’re not familiar with the comic, now is the perfect time to hop on board. In anticipation of Volume Two, Tapalansky and Eckman-Lawn will be making four stops at comic shops along the east coast: Baltimore, Maryland; LaGrangeville, New York; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; New York, New York. They’ll be offering exclusive prints and an online access pass to read a preview of the next volume before the book comes out next spring. The preview link will be released 12 am ET on Halloween morning (Oct. 31, 2009).

“I don’t think we can fall over ourselves enough to say how much our readers mean to us,” said Tapalansky. “Our readers have been amazingly patient waiting for this volume and, now that it’s available, we want to give them something cool to not only show how much we appreciate them, but that Volume Two isn’t so far away either.”

If you don’t live around those locations, you can still enjoy the sneak peek as long as you’ve purchased Awakening Volume One. Fans who won’t be able to attend a signing can take a picture of themselves standing in front of their local comic shop holding a copy of Awakening and send the picture—along with the shop’s information—to AwakeningComic@gmail.com in order to receive the preview link and spotlight their favorite shop on the Awakening creators’ blogs.

No LCS near you? Bought the book internationally? Just send an email with some sort of confirmation of your purchase (a receipt, screencap of the order, a picture with you and the book, etc.) to gain access.
