Aktrez and MsNaru have made the voyage out to the Consumers Electronic show (CES) in Las Vegas and promised, they just don’t know about it yet, to bring me back something nice. Panasonic has unveiled a product at CES 2008 that I feel that I need and that they’re going to have to haul back in a flatbed. Thanks guys.
Some of the first images of this product can be found here.
This leviathan is Panasonic’s 11-foot-long 150-inch plasma, dubbed the “life screen”, which beats out the now second place Panasonic 103-inch plasma that was debuted a couple years ago at CES (which sold 3,000 units). The prototype is actually developed by Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. and is hoping to win the title of “The world’s largest consumer plasma flat TV”. Swaggering 2,000 by 4,000 digital resolution and the equivalent of having 9 50-inch plasmas, some might say this television is too big. Not me, though. The bigger and better, I say! Sure, I may not have enough space for it and enough square footage to view it without inducing terminal blindness but I think with a little persistence and a hammer, I can make this work.
The TV comes with home hearth UI that allows you to display images when it’s not in use such as wallpaper, a fireplace, etc. Hopefully those persistent burn-in problems are resolved, since this set will be available to Oprah and the Sultan of Brunei by next year. Ya see, cause they’re rich.
I just want to know how long before people can start firing their employees over their television, Back To The Future Part II style.

We just came back from dinner with a Panasonic rep. We’ll be taking a look at this tomorrow. We had a very interesting discussion where he explained the technical differences between Plasma and LCD screens.
LCD screens get their light through these millions of mirrors that open and close at a rapid pace in order for the colors to come through.
Plasma gets their light from actual chemicals in tubes that make the light.
All very interesting. I’ll be getting a more in depth look at these awesome screens tomorrow! We saw the 108 inch LCD today. Holy CRAP is that thing big!!!

My word. That would take up the whole area of my wall beneath the stairs that lead to the second floor. Wow. Imagine playing Wii on that.
