RE5 Producer Says No To Useless Censorship

Resident Evil 5’s producer, Jun Takeuchi, has said that even though many complained of racism in the recent RE trailer, the new Resident Evil title will not be dumbed-down for more politically correctness. And the angels rejoice.

The whole arguement of RE 5 being racist is just another pathetic outcry of overly sensetive people. Everyone now a days are quick to bitch about being mistreated or being offended, where did our damn back bones go? Why do people always cry injustice? It drives me crazy! Most of the people who cry about being pigeon-holed into one type of people or another are in that social class because of themselves. The way they act, the way the interact with others, and they way they portray themselves is the reason they are grouped into one class or another. Stop bitching about it if you don’t like it, change it.

If you don’t want to be called a goth, then stop wearing all black and moaning about how cruel the world is all the time. You don’t like being called a slut, then keep your legs closed. You don’t like being called trailer trash, then put on a damn bra, wash your hair and stop popping out babies every few months. It’s easy people.

So when you see a video game where the main character is in Africa and the people there are black…don’t scream racism. Are you crazy?! What…should there be Chinese people in a game set in Africa? Of course they are going to AFRICAN-America! Geez…a bunch of babies!

So props to all the guys behind Resident Evil for now selling their souls and giving in the demon that is censorship!

Thank you. As I have said before time and again, I despise censorship.

This game looks amazing and I’m looking forward to it, but I’m not sure if I can believe Takeuchi when he says that changes haven’t been made to the game to make it seem more politically correct.

The new trailer shows a lot more Caucasian “zombies” that just seem to be out of place if the story is supposed to take place in central/northern Africa. Gametrailers.com recently put up a trailer analysis video to compare it to the E3 footage.. it shows how the main character, Chris (a burly Caucasian male) appears to be surrounded by Eminem look-a-likes, instead of the previous African locals. I would hate to think that the game’s design was influenced by people calling the racism card.

Somebody posted a comment under the trailer that says:

“So this is what I am getting

    Killing Spaniards = OK
    Killing Arabs = OK
    Killing Mexicans = OK
    Killing Aliens = OK
    Killing Asians = OK

    Killing Blacks = NOT OK”

It appears that way, I wonder if there was an outcry if the story took place in Russia or Mexico? Or what if Chris Redfield was black? Would that make it ok?

People that were upset about the first trailer are the type of people that just like drama and band wagons.

Lmao, seriously, BrianJK. No one complained about RE4.

And what about old school zombies? Some of them were black, but it was okay to kill them … because they were zombies. And nobody likes zombies. Someone should stand up for Zombie Rights! :P

I haven’t seen the latest trailer yet, but if RE5 is supposed be an accurate representation of that region’s population (BrianJK noted central/northern Africa) then there should be a few white and Arab zombie faces in the undead crowd. But I also agree that if you set a game in Africa the majority of the population, zombie or otherwise, should be black.

Some people will play the race card like it’s composing the deck. That’s just the way it is sometimes.

I am PSYCHED for this game. And you know why, Raych. :)

Yeah, If you don’t wanna be called the N word stop being black. Wait huh? I don’t get your logic Ray. You can be anything you like, just be yourself. That should be the message. Screw the haters.

    I’ve solved this problem already.

We need to create a universal fake “race” of purple (or other non-human) coloured “blobs” that represent all bad guys in any form of entertainment we have. That way, no one can possibly get upset when someone goes around killing purple blobs in a game, or mowing them down in the next Terminator movie.

And of course, when the stories of our entertainment are morally ambiguous, we’ll have to use the purple blobs for both good and bad guys.

Same goes for any settings and locales- everything will have to be set in Purpleville, in the country of Purplevania.

(Of course, once we make first contact with aliens from out space and they turn out to be purple blobs from the planet Purplevania, and they see our large collection of movies and games where we abuse them horrifically, well, let’s just say we’ll know where we went wrong as they bomb our cities into dust.)
