Last Tuesday’s patch brought good news to lowbies everywhere.. the level requirement for mount training was lowered to 30! Previously a Level 40 requirement, the mounts remain the same 60% speed increase, and 40 gold for training & your mount. So how are you suppose to afford 40 gold at Level 30? Check out my suggestions below, along with some other exciting updates!
When you reach Level 30, you get a cute letter in the mail from your local riding training on where to go to get training and your new mount. The problem is, how many people have 40g sitting around at Level 30? Unless you have higher level toons on the same server, you might find yourself lusting after those who are riding around while you’ve still got your feet on the ground. Here are a few suggestions I have for farming lower level gold, for those of you who may be new to the game, or have been away for awhile. *Note, I am Horde-Burning Legion server. I am going off my personal experiences on this server only. Some things that work here, might not work as well on your server, but hopefully, they will!
- Wool Cloth
- Wool is used in many trades skills, but only drops for a few levels. Collect up your wool stacks, skill up what you need to, and sell the rest on the Auction House. Over on my server, they sell for about 5 gold a stack. I’ve found you get get loads of wool from the Quilboars in The Barrens. - Mining Ore
- While you’re over there farming wool, you can also pick up loads of copper and tin ore. These both sell well on AH, and also occasionally drop green gems you can also put up on the AH. If your a Jewelcrafter, you of course can use the ore to make jewelry or prospect for gems. I found that the low level jewelry does not sell well on AH, but the gems do. If you’re only going for money, skip the skill-ups for now, and prospect or sell your ore straight up. - Deviate Fish
- Who doesn’t want to run around as a ninja or pirate? Deviate fish sell extremely well. They can be found in the pools all over Barrens. Also, while your collecting ore & farming wool, you might be lucky enough to get the Deviate Fish Delight Recipe to drop off one of the Quilboars. On my server, this sells for 80 gold. Of course, if you’re going to sell the fish, you should train the recipe yourself, and sell the fish. - Use your professions - Many professions provide items that are needed for other professions. Check out the auction house if you aren’t sure what is valuable to other professions. For example, the Blacksmith makes Silver Rods, which is needed by an Enchanter. You can usually sell low level materials for decent prices as well, as people are lazy
- Twink Drops - If you’re running instances, you may be lucky enough to get a valuable Twink drop. These items you can sell for a boatload on the Auction House. Always check the value of your drops before vendoring or disenchating to make sure you’re not getting rid of a Twink item. I use the “Auctioneer” add-on from curse.com, or you can also check the value at wowecon.com
I hope these suggestions get you well on your way to your first mount! Don’t be the only one in Stranglethorn Vale without one, or else, you’re guaranteed to get ganked.. and even faster than before!
In other patch update news, a new NPC, Haris Pilton, can be found at the Worlds End Tavern in Shattrath City.![]()
She offers high end items, for those of you with mounds of gold lying around.
If you’re a lower level WoW junkie, enjoy you’re new speed, and for you higher levels, enjoy the new merch! For the Horde!

Hehe… 40 gold.
My highest character I’ve ever had in WoW was 42 or so, and I never had more than 8 gold!
(But, then again, I do have strict standards- I don’t take anything whatsoever free from other people, and I don’t sell things at whatever price I can “get away with”…)
I love MMGSs to death but my personality isn’t wired to play them the way other people do. =P

hmm.. yeah. you won’t get anywhere on the lower levels if you aren’t using the auction house. you don’t make good money until 60 or so from questing.
