I promise I won’t make Brokeback Mountain jokes…
Rockstar have finally announced a sequel to the 2004 hit Red Dead Revolver by announcing Red Dead Redemption, a squeal which many fans have been expecting from as far back as 2005, so take your time Rockstar. Red Dead Redemption is set in the lawless and chaotic world of the Wild West at the turn of the 20th century as former outlaw John Marston travels across the American frontier.
San Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games believes that Red Dead Redemption contains “…seamless combination of breathtaking beauty and intense action, all woven together with strong plotlines in a massive vibrant, rural environment is mind-blowing. We think this game helps to push the limits of what an open-world gaming experience can be”. The game will be based off RAGE, Rockstar’s Advanced Game Engine and much like GTA will feature massive open world environment for players to explore, from the prairies to frontier towns, all providing distraction with side quests, gun battles, a host of unique characters and the game will hopefully allow players to choose their own path through the ‘epic story’.
So far little more is known about the game but Rockstar believe that the game will grace the Xbox360 and PlayStation3 in fall 2009 but you can always visit www.rockstargames.com/reddeadredemption in the mean time. I have also always wanted an excuse to post a Will Smith video.

I can honestly say that I’ve never played or heard of this game. But sounds pretty fun and that RAGE system is great. I’ll welcome more games based on this engine anytime.

I haven’t played many western themed games. Gun is in my to-play stack, so I might use it to get me in the mood! Of course, I need to go back and play the first one!
