Apparently Sanrio, the creators of Hello Kitty, still make anime series. o.O
Of course there are Hello Kitty anime series out there, early 90’s anyone? Hello Kitty and Friends aired on CBS in 1991 and is sometimes shown today on Disney XD (I don’t get that one). Sanrio has aired a few Hello Kitty anime series, but mostly only in Japan. Most Sanrio animes came be found in DVD format throughout the interwebs.
With the rise of the popular kitty, new friends and characters have been introduced each year. The more popular the character, the longer the cuddly critter gets to stick around. Apparently, Sanrio has also decided to keep going with anime. The newest animal to be featured in an anime is Sugar Bunny. The Bunny has been good enough to have two series out already: Sugar Bunnies (2007) and Sugar Bunnies Chocolat (2008). The Bunnys’ 2009 installment is called Sugar Bunnies Fleur and was announced through the Tokyo International Anime Fair’s website. The website also previewed this new image from the series.

Sanrio also notes that they will be providing overseas licensing for the series Hello Kitty: Ringo no Mori to Parallel-Town & Sugar Bunnies Chocolat. This is good news! Hopefully these shows will be on our TV channels soon so we can enjoy the awesome power that is Hello Kitty.
