While Kevin Conroy took us deep into the heart of Batman, and Paul Dini unraveled the mind of the character, Batman: Arkham Asylum director Sefton Hill from Rocksteady Studios broke the Bat and his rogues’ gallery down from a video game perspective. The developer addressed our pressing roundtable questions as to why the Boy Wonder was excluded from the game, what kind of gameplay we’ll experience as the Caped Crusader, what influenced the change in the appearances of characters like Harley Quinn, and how the team handled the pressure built up from previous Batman crash-and-burns.

Our Batman: Arkham Asylum roundtable experience continued with writer Paul Dini, whose creative pen has hit paper for comics, animation, and television. The creator of Harley Quinn—the fan-favorite blonde bombshell who fell head over red-and-black heels for the Clown Prince of Crime—laid out his deck of cards, revealing the secrets behind Arkham Asylum’s story. Dini discussed the challenges that separate video games from comics, his view on Harley’s dangerous new look, and mentions some of the darker moments Batman undergoes in B:AA. As a bonus, the writer answers to the fate of the new female Ventriloquist and teases us with some things he’s pretty much mum about.

We managed to grab a seat at the Batman: Arkham Asylum roundtable at this year’s Comic-Con. We sat down with voice talent Kevin Conroy, Batman scribe Paul Dini, and developer Sefton Hill to discuss the upcoming game, among other things. The roundtable kicked off with the highly praised Kevin Conroy, who’s been king of Batmen since The Animated Series debuted in 1992. The conversation took us from Arkham Asylum to the Joker, the current age of Batman comics, Hamlet, and beyond.

My first convention dished out the excitement like an all-you-can-eat buffet of awesomey goodness. The area surrounding Warner Brothers Interactive Entertainment booth swarmed with crowds and security, but being inside the booth felt like breezing into a zen bubble that not even the loudest of fans could pop. Prying me away from Scribblenauts and Batman: Arkham Asylum was no easy feat.
