Today marks the 10th year since Final Fantasy VIII was released in North America. The game has retained a timeless appeal, and remains as addicting and fun today as it was the first time I cracked open disk 1 and met Squall Leonhart.
The writer/company president agreed to take the time from his daily routine to give GEN the scoop on Peter and his boyhood pals ... and foes.
Awakening author Nick Tapalansky talks comics, zombies and zombie comics with The Nerdy Bird! Plus, Mexican brothels?!
Last time we interviewed the creative minds behind The Black Cherry Bombshells. But what about the comic's illustrator? We asked Sacha Borisich about her female role at Zuda, what she thinks of the digital medium, and her reaction to the zombie-infested, girl gang story.

Day 3 has come and gone and it was a day of hands on and technical difficulties. Check out the GEN Day 3 wrap

When one thinks of Final Fantasy, the mind usually conjures up epic battles and solid RPG gameplay, or even tactical warfare. Does one ever think of tower defense-styled gameplay? Probably not. Square has ventured toward creating something a bit different with the first-ever Xbox Live Arcade release for the franchise with Final Fantasy: Crystal Defenders. Though it isn’t as strategically diverse as a glut of the other, more popularized tower defense titles, it offers a decent challenge and satisfying throwback to the days of gorgeous sprites and thinking before you make your next move. Kupo-po!
We’re almost to the last six games, but since they’re not in any particular order it doesn’t really matter anyway. I mean… “OMG, I can’t wait to see what’s going to be number one!111!!1″
I’ve been attending the Final Fantasy XI Fan Festival since it’s first trip to the States in 2006. The Festival is the place to get a first look at new content, attend a Q&A with developers, and team up with other players from around the world to experience new jobs and areas. This year’s event took place at the Renaissance Hotel in Hollywood, CA to celebrate FFXI’s three new patches; A Shantotto Ascension, A Moogle Kupo d’Etat, and A Crystalline Prophecy.
Many of the games that are currently being released are anime-esque. Even the story lines mimic Japanese cinema in the “anything goes” fashion! What I mean by this is, a story can take you one way, then completely smack you in the face and take a sharp turn towards who knows where!? However, I must ask, is Japanese art “invading” gaming, or was it inevitable? I believe that it’s more predominant because of our (Americans) growing interest in that culture. Of course we’re going to witness the so-called “invasion” of anime into gaming!
Today in MiL, I have a story that I’m sure will melt everyone’s heart! I interviewed Celine who met her other half Matthew on hexrpg.com, a Harry Potter RPG site, when she was only 15 and he was 17. She was “Mayoke” and he was “Axrix” who were both new students who met on the Hogwarts Express. They first talked shyly about what sorting they may be put into- she got into Gryffindor and he into Slytherin, but soon they’re shyness wore off as two realized that Harry Potter wasn’t the only thing they had in common…

Either Square Enix has been extremely hush-hush in keeping something from us or an employee from Best Buy really mucked up! Read the full story
