You Know You Are A Geek If…GEN Edition

Yeah yeah…there is no arguing that in one capacity or another we are all geeks here at GEN. That isn’t surprising. Having a geek side is not uncommon these days – even celebrities seem to be embracing their inner-fandom.

Here at GEN, we come in all flavors of geek. Some of us live for video games, others dish out dough every week for comics, and still others can’t get enough anime and manga. Don’t even get us started on toys…or cosplay. All of us express our inner-geek in an outward way. Still, no matter now “normal” we may seem because of the company we keep, every once in a while something happens that grounds us and reminds us of our roots. Have you ever seen road kill on the side of the road and wondered where the piñata candy was? Do you consider birthdays IRL Dings? Did you collect and print all the trading cards from Final Fantasy VIII just so you could play in real life with friends? The girls here have…and more.

So why are the GEN girls geeks? Read on to find out. Keep in mind, all of these examples are real…even the ones we wish weren’t.

Other than cosplaying, wearing shirts or gear, sporting tattoos of your favorites is a great way to show your dedication. Unfortunately, doing anything productive while in costume in a con is almost impossible, so I didn’t get too many people, and alas… I didn’t get any names either. I know, I know, while I managed to snap photos and share a bit of chitchat, I never carried a pen and paper with me and took no names! So if you see yourself, please speak up! Read the full story

Comic Book Geek Fashion: Xavier Institute For Higher Learning

whatistechnoagain-header-geek-fashion

If you’re like me and love the X-men, you’ve probably secretly dreamed of enrolling at Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters (aka the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning). Dreamed of training in the Danger Room and learning physics from Beast … Well, so we’re not mutants. That’s no reason why we can’t boast our fandom by donning shirts that show our spirit for our favorite school we don’t actually attend. Erm … right? RIGHT!
