SDCC09: Scribblenauts/Arkham Asylum

My first convention dished out the excitement like an all-you-can-eat buffet of awesomey goodness. The area surrounding Warner Brothers Interactive Entertainment booth swarmed with crowds and security, but being inside the booth felt like breezing into a zen bubble that not even the loudest of fans could pop. Prying me away from Scribblenauts and Batman: Arkham Asylum was no easy feat.

PS3 Review: Infamous

Superheroes and action-adventure video games are two of my favorite things in life, so I happily snatched up the new PlayStation-only title, Infamous. When announced, the exclusive shouldered a heavy burden—would it deflate under high expectations, or earn PlayStation a shining gold star that would bump the console up a notch in the competitive industry? Infamous didn’t just have the concern of the gaming community to worry about, though. Reviewing a game involving two of my specialties meant my critic’s eye would be sharper than usual. So how did Infamous fare in the heat of the flames? The answer might pleasantly surprise you, or just make you angry. You decide.

PS3 Review: X-Men Origins: Wolverine

After seeing X-Men Origins: Wolverine in theaters and knowing the toxic reputation of movie-based video games, I had grim hopes that the most recent X-Men film’s console adaptation would impress. Firing up my PS3 and taking a deep breath, I prayed for at least a mediocre game. Well, I was wrong. It’s better.

The Console to Rule Them All is On Demand!

Every 5-6 years gamers are faced with the important decision of which next-gen console to buy.  This decision has always been particularly hard for me because my pockets weren’t necessarily the deepest and I would have to chose only one, leaving me with the horrifying feeling of missing out on some of the best titles exclusive to other consoles.  This feeling that I like to call “The Big 3 Oppression”, has kept me down since the latest generation of consoles were released a couple years back, but now, there is a sort of gleaming hope shining in the distance.  A Micro-Console that can stream games made for the Playstation 3, Xbox 360, PC, and Mac straight to my TV or extremely basic PC!

PS3 Review: Killzone 2

History has not been good to Killzone: The first game was hailed as the PlayStation 2’s “Halo killer”, but like all other self-proclaimed Halo killers it fell considerably short of that prestigious title. Then Killzone 2 made its first appearance in the infamous CG trailer at E3 2005 to much scrutiny and controversy. Almost four years later, the long-awaited game has finally made its way into eager PS3 owners’ hands.
