Superheroes and action-adventure video games are two of my favorite things in life, so I happily snatched up the new PlayStation-only title, Infamous. When announced, the exclusive shouldered a heavy burden—would it deflate under high expectations, or earn PlayStation a shining gold star that would bump the console up a notch in the competitive industry? Infamous didn’t just have the concern of the gaming community to worry about, though. Reviewing a game involving two of my specialties meant my critic’s eye would be sharper than usual. So how did Infamous fare in the heat of the flames? The answer might pleasantly surprise you, or just make you angry. You decide.

Along time ago, in a childhood far, far away, Sega made a name for its company and consoles by offering up unique niche titles that couldn’t be found anywhere else. It then proceeded to tarnish that name by unleashing a relentless barrage of horrid Sonic the Hedgehog spin-offs and failed “Wiiquels” to the aforementioned niche titles such as Samba de Amigo and NiGHTS. Valkyria Chronicles is so good it almost corrects all those wrongs, and is by far the most enjoyable game that has ever seen the inside of my PlayStation 3.

History has not been good to Killzone: The first game was hailed as the PlayStation 2’s “Halo killer”, but like all other self-proclaimed Halo killers it fell considerably short of that prestigious title. Then Killzone 2 made its first appearance in the infamous CG trailer at E3 2005 to much scrutiny and controversy. Almost four years later, the long-awaited game has finally made its way into eager PS3 owners’ hands.
