While Kevin Conroy took us deep into the heart of Batman, and Paul Dini unraveled the mind of the character, Batman: Arkham Asylum director Sefton Hill from Rocksteady Studios broke the Bat and his rogues’ gallery down from a video game perspective. The developer addressed our pressing roundtable questions as to why the Boy Wonder was excluded from the game, what kind of gameplay we’ll experience as the Caped Crusader, what influenced the change in the appearances of characters like Harley Quinn, and how the team handled the pressure built up from previous Batman crash-and-burns.

Our Batman: Arkham Asylum roundtable experience continued with writer Paul Dini, whose creative pen has hit paper for comics, animation, and television. The creator of Harley Quinn—the fan-favorite blonde bombshell who fell head over red-and-black heels for the Clown Prince of Crime—laid out his deck of cards, revealing the secrets behind Arkham Asylum’s story. Dini discussed the challenges that separate video games from comics, his view on Harley’s dangerous new look, and mentions some of the darker moments Batman undergoes in B:AA. As a bonus, the writer answers to the fate of the new female Ventriloquist and teases us with some things he’s pretty much mum about.

We managed to grab a seat at the Batman: Arkham Asylum roundtable at this year’s Comic-Con. We sat down with voice talent Kevin Conroy, Batman scribe Paul Dini, and developer Sefton Hill to discuss the upcoming game, among other things. The roundtable kicked off with the highly praised Kevin Conroy, who’s been king of Batmen since The Animated Series debuted in 1992. The conversation took us from Arkham Asylum to the Joker, the current age of Batman comics, Hamlet, and beyond.

Phil Hester has been shaking up The Darkness, pumping out one solid issue after another in style. Unless you’ve been living under a rock here at GEN and you still think Dick Grayson is Robin, you’ve probably figured out that The Darkness has become one of my favorite comics. Meeting Darkness scribe Phil Hester was an absolute blast. In between some good laughs, he gave me the scoop on the changes we’ll be seeing in Jackie and the book itself, the mysterious Foreigner and the even more aloof Sovereign, and even a little about War of the Witchblades and a few of Hester’s upcoming projects. What about Jackie proves difficult to write? How does Hester feel about the infamous Darklings? Sit back and find out.

My first convention dished out the excitement like an all-you-can-eat buffet of awesomey goodness. The area surrounding Warner Brothers Interactive Entertainment booth swarmed with crowds and security, but being inside the booth felt like breezing into a zen bubble that not even the loudest of fans could pop. Prying me away from Scribblenauts and Batman: Arkham Asylum was no easy feat.

Weren’t able to get into the Twilight panel at San Diego Comic Con? Don’t fret! The Nerdy Bird sat in row 9 and she’s here to tell you all about it!

I’m still pinching myself. Did I really sit nine rows of chairs from Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Kristen Stewart and Ashley Greene? It must have been real. If it were a dream, Kristen and Ashley wouldn’t have been involved…if you know what I mean…and I think you do.
The Summit Entertainment panel was held Thursday morning of SDCC in the massive Hall H. Outside, Wednesday afternoon, there were several tents pitched by hardcore fans dedicated to being front and center for the action the following day. And boy, what action it was. Sure, we all had to sit through Summit’s preview of Astro-Boy and Sorority Row first (which was AGONIZING) but as soon as the Twilight Saga: New Moon title showed up on screen the anticipation reached a fever pitch and we were ready.

You either love or hate Zack Snyder by now. The director of Watchmen and 300 was down-to-earth and full of enthusiasm when I joined a group of about seven other press in a roundtable at San Diego Comic-Con to talk about the new director’s cut of the film. Snyder dished about his passion for movies, the film’s long running time, his favorite scenes, and more.

Bright and early on the first day of Comic-Con, I ventured to the TellTale Games booth for a demo. Two friendly faces demonstrated Wallace and Gromit’s Grand Adventures and Tales of Monkey Island for me. If you’re looking for frivolous and entertaining games that you can breeze through like a pirate on the high seas, TellTale Games is your one-stop shop.
