One of the last games released in 2009 was Assassin’s Creed II, the sequel to Ubisoft’s first installment released in 2007. The original Assassin’s Creed turned out to be exceedingly popular, but there were also several complaints that nearly everyone agreed on, primarily, it’s repetition. This time around, the developers chose a new time period and a new assassin, and the game is practically absent of all of the problems of its predecessor. Read the full story

Every 5-6 years gamers are faced with the important decision of which next-gen console to buy. This decision has always been particularly hard for me because my pockets weren’t necessarily the deepest and I would have to chose only one, leaving me with the horrifying feeling of missing out on some of the best titles exclusive to other consoles. This feeling that I like to call “The Big 3 Oppression”, has kept me down since the latest generation of consoles were released a couple years back, but now, there is a sort of gleaming hope shining in the distance. A Micro-Console that can stream games made for the Playstation 3, Xbox 360, PC, and Mac straight to my TV or extremely basic PC!

Now I’ve always felt sorry for the PSP, it is a fantastic little bit of technology (minus the appalling battery life) that was beaten to a pulp by Dr Kawashima and the DS. I love my PSP and if you have the time to look there really are some fantastic games out for the heavily under-rated system. So every time another big title is announced I always find myself getting a little bit excited.
Today Ubisoft announced a new Tenchu game for the PSP known as Shadow Assassins which is due on European shores in April. For anyone who is unaware (how is this possible?!) Tenchu is a series of games set in feudal Japan that play heavily off the stealth/ninja experience, the most recent of which, Tenchu Z , was released for the Xbox360 in 2006.
The new PSP game will once again follow the foot steps of the two main reoccurring characters and elite ninjas, Rikimaru and Ayame as they attempt to rescue Japan from the villain Onikage. Both have an arsenal of ninja like weapons (just like in Naruto kids!) such as throwing stars, katanas and smoke bombs (3 of apparently 17 different weapons and tools), the ability to sneak behind enemies, as you would expect from a ninja and unlockable extras like costumes. If the screen shot pack that Ubi released (attached below) are anything to go by then hopefully handheld gamers will have something other than Barbie Horse Adventures and MORE, More Brain Training to get excited over, in fact I’m going to go and wash my Tabbi socks right now.

With the new Metal Gear Solid 4 fast approaching, reviews and gaming media of all types are scrambling to get coverage of the new game. That is everyone but Electronic Gaming Monthly. Why? Because EGM has your best interests at heart. We already know how Ubisoft blacklisted EGM for their honest reviews of Assassins Creed, and now Konami is taking a lesson in the less than true reviews and asking reviewers not to mention certain aspects of the game. For me as a gamer, this fact it pretty scary.

With the success of Beyond Good & Evil, fans of the game have been begging for more. The original was released in 2003 and received wide critical acclaim but little commercial success.

I am a die hard Lost fan and when I heard that Ubisoft was making a Lost game I was thrilled. I know that movie and tv show video games 9 times outta 10 are pretty disappointing and I knew that they didn’t even get all of the actors to do the voice acting, but I had high hopes for the Lost game either way.
