If you are like me, you eat up anything staring Top Cow’s most scantily-clad heroine. That’s why I am so excited about the first-ever Witchblade annual, which Top Cow just recently announced.
The Witchblade Annual will unfold via a 40-page supernatural detective story staring Sara Pezzini and her oh-so-cute boyfriend/partner Patrick Gleason. Joe Faerber – scribe for Noble Causes and Pilot Season: Urban Myths – dishes up his first Witchblade tale in the pending release. The fantastic art is being done by our personal friend and uber-nice guy Eric Basaldua, and inked by his equally talented brother Rick (our biggest GEN cheerleader).
“I had a great time working with all the guys at Top Cow during Pilot Season, so when they asked me to pitch ideas for the Witchblade Annual, I jumped at the chance. I love what Ron Marz is doing with the book, so I tried to remain true to the tone he set,” commented writer Jay Faerber.
“I think Eric’s one of the best guys working in the Top Cow stable and I was thrilled when I found out he was going to be illustrating this story,” continued Faerber, “I think it really plays to his strengths, and Witchblade fans are going to love what he brings to the table.”
In addition to the story fleshed out by Faerber, writers Joshua Cozine and Joe Henderson will bring back Ian Nottingham (yum) in a second tale, with artist Sheldon Mitchell of the Freshmen: Summer Vacation Special lending his talents for the art. The story evidently highlights what happens to criminals with the misfortune of being incarcerated with Nottingham.
“Witchblade has been around for almost 15 years and we’ve never done an Annual,” commented Filip Sablik, Publisher of Top Cow, “We had a great story from Jay Faerber and this seemed like the ideal way to present it. Add in some stunning artwork by Eric and it’s sure to leave an impression with fans.”
You can check the two annual covers below. As a fan of Eric’s work on Deviant Art, I have seen the annual being fleshed out for some time now. Needless to say, I am excited to see the final product. Now it just needs to hit store shelves!

I have it now, but why havent they made a Video game about the Comic starring Sara, I mean they made darkness but that was first person and I really don’t like FP shooters. Please Topcow make a WitchBlade video game.
