“Gamer Utopia” is the only way to describe the epic feeling behind the gaming community known as Pwned. Pwned.com is unlike any other gaming website in the world. It already plays a huge role in our lives and plans to expand to new heights within only a few months of it’s life. With new features being added all the time, Pwned is like a one stop shop for everything in gaming.

Pwned counts on it’s users to create their own environment. Giving each user the chance to create their own fully customizable profile page and letting them run the show. Everything can be added to, commented on or discussed. Users can help rate and review video games across the wide spectrum of platforms. As well as post bulletins, blogs, write articles, and beyond. Users can also create their own user groups known as “Clans”. On top of the massive amount of user submitted content, Pwned.com offers incredible contests and hope to continue to add bigger and better things in the future.
Everything that you do on Pwned, including site surfing, earns you what are called “Pwned Points”. As these Pwned Points are earned all users have the ability to cash in these points for different things that are offered on the website. The points can be traded for a Nintendo Wii at 200,000 Points or even things like and Area 51 - m9750 for a total of 1,200,000 Points. While Pwned points can’t be cashed in while the site is still in beta, you can still earn them.
The about Pwned page states that, “PWNED.COM is the worlds first social networking website dedicated to video gamers of all ages, built for gamers by gamers for gamers. Users earn money by viewing and interacting with user friends, videos, pics, rich media, game trailers, game reviews and previews, blogs, polls, clans, and tags in the form of Pwned Points, which may be redeemed for cash, video game consoles, iPods, video games, etc..
PWNED.COM is participating in GOOGLE OPEN SOCIAL, and will be continue to integrate Open Social as Google releases more developer kits for complete integration. Please feel free to give our staff feedback to help enrich our site user experience. Our development team will be constantly adding new user social networking emerging technologies and user requested functionality, so keep checking out the new user content as our web traffic continues to surge each month.”

Though Pwned.com is a new site it continues to grow steadily everyday. According to GrrlGamer.com, “PWNED.COM received over 2 Million unique page impressions in February, which is a 400,000+ increase from January’s 1.6 Million unique page impressions. PWNED.COM traffic is on track in March to surpass 2.5 Million unique page impressions.” With impressive numbers comes impressive sponsored groups. It seems Rockstar Games, Coin-Op TV, Puddle of Mudd, Snoop Dog, Frag Dominant, The Entertainment Consumers Association (ECA), and others are getting in on the Pwned action and have created profiles on the site.
As mentioned before Pwned is still in it’s beta phase and needs our help to thrive. The site is 100% free and you can sign up for an account at www.pwned.com. On top of that each new user that you invite will be an instant 100 Pwned points. While your at it hop on over to myspace and add their page www.myspace.com/pwnedcom . Then head over to Killer Startups and send a vote their way! We at The Girls Entertainment Network <3 Pwned.com and know that you will enjoy it as much as we do!

Although I don’t agree with anything you said in the first paragraph, I am on the site, and pretty much find everything about it annoying. I need to set my profile to private or something.

Sorry your annoyed Mandy. The site is meant for fun and while users are acting a fool we are trying our hardest.

Ah, well that, and it runs SOOOOOOOO slow, it’s easily the slowest website on a daily basis. bah, I’m not going to get in to it on this site… but there’s plenty of room for improvements.
March 27th, 2008 at 10:52 am
Really? I’ve never had a problem with it loading at all. That’s strange.
March 27th, 2008 at 11:02 am
Yeah, I dunno… it runs slow from 3 different computers, 3 different connections, and no other websites run slow.
Sorry to ShoutBox, I didn’t really mean to say anything bad about the site, it’s a good idea, there’s just some annoying users

I joined a few days ago and I am loving it so far. I have actually been surprised by the people on there, after hearing some seemingly negative stuff about the overall community. So far I haven’t come across any bad users, and am meeting a lot of cool people who I know for a fact share my interests, unlike other social networking sites.

Well any site is going to have issues with members we try to not police a social site as its all about be you. As for the slow speeds we have had some but our goal is to improve the servers just as fast as we can. Thanks for the input Mandy. Thanks for the love GEN.
As for the SB we are working to improve this as well so expect some news on a big change soon.

Hmmm.. I dig the site. I’ve only “heard” people say it was bad, but I’ve never had any bad vibes comin’ my way. It’s been aaaallll good to me baby, ya dig?
*haha* I’m in a weird mood!
Slow….nope, not here….. MISS BIMBO on the other hand is freaking sllooooooow… hahaha!
Mandy: I’m sorry you have to deal with negative users… that sux! I really hate it when a handful of people ruin it for everyone. No worries though, just remember… the negative people don’t count. Stick with the positive people only; let the positive peeps effect you vs. the negative ones.

It’s an okay site. There is some room for improvement, but over all it is a good site. Annoying users aside, I have fun there.
March 27th, 2008 at 9:38 pm
I think it is also important for people to understand that with the site still in the Beta phase there will always be problems to fix until it’s Alpha stage.
Mandy: I too am sorry that you have seen a side of pwned that even I don’t agree with. With any open social network you do get individuals who can potentially “ruin it for everyone”. All I can suggest is that you stick with it, I’ve never seen ANY slow load times.
March 28th, 2008 at 8:46 am
I’ve never really seen any slow times on the website. Everyone just needs to keep in mind that the website is still in beta. Just like any new game that comes out, there will be bugs, that get patched. Pwned will work it’s way through it’s “patches” and will be better in more ways than one.

Oh Gawd, who’d join yet another one of these social network sites?
Send me a friend Request

love pwned.com - my name on there is ‘pennyman’
March 30th, 2008 at 11:14 pm
I’m mixed about the site. I like the concept, but I guess I prefer the user-friendliness of myspace and facebook. Uploading and moving the photos is such a pain!
March 31st, 2008 at 11:03 am
Honestly, what I like most about it is the technology. I really love the fact that your profile can list out all of the games you play and - as many know - the shoutbox is uberific.

I like the idea and overall concept about the site. I was toying about on there for a bit this morning at work, first of all was very happy my gamer name wasen’t taken *yays ^^;*, and was interested in the games list. But got a bit fristerated with the profile layout, so I decided to skip trying to have a cool background..even though it was a really cool Metroid one eventually Samus got the boot to be replaced by a plain black background = /
But other than that it seemed pretty cool, and I understand this is the Beta so with that in mind I’ll be on there quite a bit! Add me if you want! <3
