Hello everyone! And welcome to the 3rd edition to “What’s in a Nam..Gamer Name?” ! This week we have a verrry special guest, to go along with our last edition, I was able to talk with none other than Miss Athena PMS / Valkyrie FD!! Lets take a jump and see what she had to say about her choice in names 
-What is your name and what does it mean?
Athena PMS & Valkyrie FD.
As you can see I use strong female goddesses as my name, as in mythology many of the goddesses had strong traits and characters. Athena is the Greek goddess of wisdom, war, the arts, industry, justice and skill.
My Valkyrie name was chosen when I became a Frag Doll and we were required to all come up with new names as UbiSoft would essentially own them. Valkyries were a race of Norse female goddesess.
-How long have you gone by this name?
I have gone by Athena since 2001 and Valkyrie since 2004.
-From your name, do you think it affects how people view you online? What are some of your experiances with this?
No, I don’t think my name causes people to view me different online (unless they know who I am). While the names mean alot to me, the only thing that would cause a reaction is if they recognized it as a female name.
-How did you end up choosing your name? Was there anything the personal inspired you in coming up with your name?
My first gamer name, Athena, was chosen because she represents the strongest and well known of most mythological goddesses. and that is about as powerful and cumulative of a name that you can ask for- especially for a leader and co-founder of PMS Clan.
For my Valkyrie name, I knew I wanted another goddess and another that would exemplify my personality and goals. While I couldn’t find the right name I liked the Valkyrie’s as a race and decided that it was a strong name. The Valkyrie’s had the purpose to allot death to men and govern victory of battles and wars. They would chose the most heroic of those who had died in battle to bring back to Valhalla with them, and that’s pretty cool for a gaming name.
-Do you have experiances with people calling you by your gamer name in real life? How often?
Oh, of course and I do the same to them. I travel to almost every industry and consumer event and more times then not they know me as a whole by my gamer name as that is my identity to them. I think it’s awesome and your gamer name definatly becomes more “you” then anything else!
-Do you seem to always use this name when starting a new game? Or new character?
I always use my Athena name somehow in any game, user name, loggin, etc. Anything that allows me to custimize the name in any way will have Athena in it. It is mine and it is who I am body and soul!

Mine’s simple: Bond’s arch nemesis from Goldeneye + British military rifle :P.
Though I have seen a few people use buddhist religious references for gaming names and yet play on FPSes a lot lol
