I have to admit, I have sort of an addiction to songs about Superman. Still, I love songs about heroes in general and even started a playlist on imeem.com to that effect. But never before have I found a whole album devoted to the Marvel superhero, Captain America. Well … until now, that is.

Will Kouf honors the Star-Spangled Avenger with an entire tribute album of sixteen themed songs like “A Man to Inspire,” “The Red Skull,” “What’s Your Name?” and “I’m Joinin’ Up.” Wizard magazine recently interviewed the independent singer/songwriter in the “thwack!” column of their latest issue (#201).
Listen to a sample track—”I’m Here to Help”—with a video slideshow below.
You can visit Kouf’s Myspace page to hear some more songs. Like it? Then click the image below to transfer to the album download page. Uhm, and did I mention it’s completely free?
I think this is great. Will has a mellow vibe that reminds me of Glen Phillips and Jonathan Coulton; we need more comic book love! As much as I jump at the chance to hear an unfamiliar Superman song, the Man of Steel is way too overused.
What do you think of Kouf’s songs?

Sweet. Cap is my all time favorite hero of all time. I will most definitely download the whole thing when I get home. Thanks for finding this one Steph.

You forgot to put ‘The Man of Metropolis Steals Our Hearts’ by Sufjan Stevens on your playlist.

I have been reading Marvel’s giant Captain America Omnibus that collects the first 25 issues of Ed Brubaker’s Captain America. Amazing. It’s like Captain America meets The Bourne Identity meets … Captain America. I love it. Highly recommended.

Ooohh, sounds awesome! I’ll have to check that out.
