Platinum Studios has released a teaser poster and website for the recently announced Witchblade film, based on the successful Top Cow comic.
Witchblade, created in 1995, has inspired a TNT tv show in 2000 and an anime-styled show in Japan in 2006. In the comic series, a female from each generation is chosen to wield the Witchblade, a jewel-encrusted gauntlet “with immense destructive and protective powers.”
There’s still no word on who’s taking the lead role, but in the meantime the company put out the following poster and launched a teaser site for the movie, set to come to theaters next year. The site doesn’t really have anything on it yet, but you can sign up for email updates regarding the movie.
The live-action film apparently will follow a “more horror-based approach.”
You can click on the poster below for a bigger version.

Ok, it looks - frighteningly - like Jessica Alba…… that scares me!

I don’t know if I liket the gauntlet…it looks more sci-fi than ancient and organic…I am going to be UBER critical…LOL

I like it. To me, the gauntlet looks more like how it did in the first few Michael Turner issues of the book.

Haha, don’t worry, Aktrez. As I mentioned, they haven’t found the lead yet.

I am trying to keep an open mind about WitchBlade
They need to find the right person
Lets see how this plays out
To avert this crisis they need to place a real phone call to VirtualGirl

I agree. How can we get Meg in there to consult on this?!

HAHA…I WISH!! I don’t know, they have been drawing the gauntlet different over the past few months. Both ways are STUNNING, but I prefer the original version over the new one.
The old one is more animalistic:

And the new one is more sci-fi:

I prefer the older version by a wide margin
I do love Science Fiction but Witchblade is not really a Sci-Fi character, Witchblade seems more anicent to me
Lets hope they do the character justice!

I like the new one better, actually. It’s sleeker and kind of reminds me of fantasy armor or something in a way.
But that just may be because I’m new coming in and don’t really know much about the series.

I thought it looked (in the eyes) like J. Lo.
Now, which one of the ladies here is going to recreate the poster in cosplay? =D

Oh, I also meant to say stop hating on my woman (Jessica Alba. I’m just letting Cash borrow her in the public limelight- it’s actually my child she’s carrying…)
(… when I’m dreaming.)
She’s not a bad actress, darn it! >x(
