If you aren’t familiar with the term “WoW-bay”, it’s simple. Level 70 + eBay = Sell your account.
With the recent expansion release, there may be a bit more WoW-baying going on than usual. For those of you who are better with examples, here is what I’m talking about. Some are legitimate people selling their accounts, while others are products of gold-farming companies and other MMO factories that make the characters specifically for selling them on eBay.
Although I have no idea what the actual statistics are (or how to track it), it seems there has been a recent increase in the “lack of knowledge” often associated with WoW-baying in recent days. Some obvious signs of WoW-baying include not knowing where anything is, how to find out where anything is, or where the mailbox in the main city is. I’m not saying that in the brand new sections of the expansion should everyone know where everything is.. that’s not what I’m saying at all. However, if you are “Level 70″, then yes, I expect you to know how to use your map and the directional advices provided by the WoW UI. Not only that, but if you’ve made it to 70, you are probably aware of some of the addition add-ons to make your life easier.
Other than the practice being extremely annoying for /1 general chat, the whole thing seems a bit unfair. Not to mention that getting grouped with someone who doesn’t know how to play, could be life-threatening for everyone… especially in the high level dungeons and raids.
So what do you guys thing? Is this a fair practice? Should Blizzard monitor eBay for accounts that are being sold?
