Zombie Pub Crawls: The Undead Drink Alcohol and Eat Brains.

If you have ever wanted to throw blood all over you and eat limbs while enjoying a beer, here is your chance.

The Zombie Pub Crawl is a basic idea. Get a huge group of the undead to stumble from bar to bar and proceed to attack unsuspecting victims on the way. These crawls usually have volunteers that have to organize this event. The organizers should plan and discuss The crawl with the pubs they want to attend. It makes it easier for the pubs to get extra staff and plan to get blood everywhere. The zombies should find an area where there are many bars right next to each other. The zombies will be able to wander the streets and spread out if one bar gets too busy. After the area of the crawl is decided, a time, date, and safety guides are needed.

The best time for crawls is when it will be warm out. The zombies don’t want to be really hot and have their make up melt. On the other hand, no one wants to drink outside when it is cold out either. Many bars have patios for extra space and the more room for zombies the better. Crawls usually fall on a Saturday because it takes a while for someone to get decently zombified. Plan on starting in the afternoon and having the pub crawl be a whole day event. When in zombie character it is important to be careful. Sure it’s fun to grab people in passing cars, but don’t get hit. Not everyone likes or understand our obsession with zombies and can get angry. These people suck so try to avoid them. As always when you drink have a sober cab plan ready.

Then decide what type of zombie you want to be. For first timers, a basic zombie is always a good choice. Wear clothing that can get damaged permanently and wear pockets. Zombies don’t wear purses. Experienced crawlers often go with a theme. I have seen Abe Lincoln zombie, many bride zombies, Star Trek zombie, and super hero zombies. Anything goes! Props such as baby doll limbs, fake brains, and anything that goes with your theme are encouraged. Some people even go as humans and hunters to add a little spice to the mix. Make up is an important part of the costume. Most costume shops have makeup packs and liquid latex that are essential to becoming a proper zombie. Online has many makeup tips for zombification. Toilet paper and oatmeal mixed with liquid latex is a great way to make open wounds. Or you can always ask Virtual Girl, Vampire Kitten, and me for tips.

Many large cities like Minneapolis, Chicago, and Jacksonville already have crawls. You can look online or your local papers for information to see if your city has one. If not, get a group of people and start one. The pub crawls get bigger and better every year. The more information around town the better to get more people involved. If you are from a small town, look for the nearest one to you. There are many out there, you just have to look for it since they are often not hugely publicised.

Now my zombie minions…go crawl and drink!
